Motorola Gp680 Programming Software

Radio Programming Cable for Motorola USB FTDI HT1250 HT750 HT1550. No programming software included. 4in1 Programming Cable for Motorola. GP680 --HT1250.

Sorry george i didnt realise this was the official motorola forum, i thought it was a forum for moto owners who shared info about models, programming etc, i'm ever so sorry if i have marred your rose tinted lenses, please accept my appologies, ps, what ever you do dont check out the transmission1 forum, i feel you would have a coronary reading some of the post's they write over there. Pps, i bet you know the number of the last class 37 loco that took freight down the east coast mainline from edin to london before br was privatised. I also bet you have a checkerd thermos with a white cup and a duffle coat.

Lookout its george the internet police. Im sure by now you have figured out i dislike your tone and your manner, a pm would have been a better option. Ahhh, I'm sorry you come onto a forum that helps people with radio issues (for free), ask a quesiton, and people tell you the right answer (which, to be fair, google would of told you in less than 10 seconds). My trainspotting skills aren't what they used to be, but then again, my twat detector seems to be working 100%. You go to a local dealer - ask them the same question. They will give you the same answer.

I'm sure you would be the first person to cry to the dealer when you have your radios taken off you 'he programmed them, not me'. The transmission 1 forums have a lot of nice people who use 446 for what it should be used for. They won't appreciate you programming some radios onto the 446 channels, and then cut them all out, as you are bleeding all over their channels. Oh right, you wont know about channel spacings and things like that, would you.

If you want to throw abuse, no worries. Just become a paid up member so you are donating to the bandwidth you are using.

Oh, and if you were a member here a few years ago, you would appreciate that Motorola DID threaten the owner of the forum with court unless he removed loads of stuff - so they do monitor this forum with their beady eyes. In fairness george i was a rad-ops in the sevices so i kinda know about freq splits, even odd splits for repeaters with ctcss access tones etc. Now on the issue of bleading over other users, our use is primeraly in the north west of scotland where i live and work and to be honest we never hear anyone on the freqs mentioned apart from us, offcom as i understand it set up the 446 licence free for anyone to use, buisness or pleasure and just like the old 27/81 cb bands, it was policed for maybe the first year at a push then pretty much left alone. We have maybe four agents left in scotland that police amateur, buisness and public bands and tbh they are more concerned with catchin unlicensed taxi user etc than someone running 1 watt instead of 1/2 a watt ems max on 446, i take your point about my posting a request to prog rads on 446 and perhaps i should have been more clandestine in my post however had you sent me a pm as opposed to calling me out in public i could have edited my post.

I appologies for perhaps being a tad argumentative in my previous post nad shall leave the matter at that 73's Logged. Complete success, jobs a good-un, a warning to anyone thinking on programming a gp 680 that i was given from a friend who does this for a living, make sure the programming software you have is newer than the software on the radio or you will end up with a continuous tone and the msg eeprom cksum on your screen which will cost you in the region of £100 including postage to send your radio to motorola to get fixed, apparently you dont get any warning of this going to happen, the sofware will read and write as normal but after youve written it just happens. Im only repeating what i was told and thought it was worth posting, not sure if it affects any other models.73's Logged. I got a copy of the CPS, but its R.00., on the radio info tab, it said that the radio was running on an R.02:/ Then the dreaded EEPROM Cksum came up.:/ Is there any OTHER way of getting this fixed.

As i'm bricking it. And where did you get your copy of the CPS for the GP680, (and which version is it?) Thanks, James « Last Edit: July 03, 2011, 01:19:15 PM by iJamesNC » Logged. Hi James, Sounds pretty much like its a return to factory job, or, speak to your local dealer very nicely to see if they are willing to try and re-flash it. I assume you were using the MPT CPS and not the standard GP CPS? I can only suggest purchasing the software from Rob (site admin here), using un-registered downloaded CPS is not a good idea as you will very rarely find the most up to date CPS, besides it being illegal! Plus it is a good investment as you can get your updates as and when you want them with no problems! You can try and re-write the radio, but this can fail.

Especially if it has the first time! Sorry I can't be more positive.

Been there myself many years ago!

First of all, let me stress I have a Motorola account number and I'm trying to legally purchase CPS for a GP 680 radio. The problem is that I'm in the US and that radio is usually sold in the UK. I'm only using the single radio inside a shielded box to try to connect to an Aeroflex unit, but if my experience with other radios is any indicator I'll need to change some settings in either the radio or the Aeroflex to make the radio register. So I'm looking for the part number for the CPS for a GP 680 that I can purchase in the US. I'm getting a little bit of a runaround from Motorola.
It's complicated because this radio seems to share some characteristics with the HT series, I know the same programming cable works for both. First they told me HVN9025 would work. Then they backpedaled and sent me to an international dealer who said ENLN4116, but I don't know if I can purchase that in the US.
At any rate, has anyone programmed a GP680 (or just read the info, I probably can alter the Aeroflex settings to match the radio)? If so what CPS part number do you need? Do you know how I can legally acquire that in the US?
Thanks.
